The International Genetically Engineered Machines Competition

Last November, I was part of the team from the National Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore, India, at iGEM, which is an annual contest held at the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT), USA

(From R to L, Krishna, Mukund and Varun with the trophy)

What is iGEM?

iGEM addresses the question: Can simple biological systems be built from standard interchangeable parts and operated in living cells? Or is biology simply too complicated to be engineered this way? The only way to try and answer this question is to actually engineer biological devices. This forms the basis for the new and emerging field of Synthetic Biology

NCBS won the "Best Model and Simulation Award". For more details of our project, visit the NCBS iGEM Team-2007 Wiki
